It is widely assumed that the primary purpose of streets is to facilitate circulation, primarily vehicular, to and through our communities. However, streets constitute the largest component of public open space in a city; the quality of a neighborhood or the success of a commercial district depends greatly on the design of its streets. Our project experience includes street improvements in downtown commercial districts, neighborhoods, transit corridors, waterfronts, and suburban centers. In all of our work we are dedicated to finding creative solutions to balance the often-conflicting demands that are placed on limited street space, to provide places for pedestrians, bicycles, transit, commerce, recreation, and amenities, as well as motor vehicles.
