It is widely acknowledged that the local community should have a central voice in determining the future of an area, whether planning involves projects that are public or private, new development or reuse. Communications and outreach are essential elements of such a community involvement process, and can take many forms, ranging from participatory workshops to stakeholder interviews to the use of websites and other technology. At BMS Design Group, we embrace the community outreach and involvement process as an integral part of project planning and design. We are recognized for our extensive successful experience facilitating complex and sometimes contentious planning processes in order to reach consensus. We have found that a properly managed community outreach process yields new ideas, creates consensus and accelerates implementation.
